Burger King lowers sodium in kids meals

This article talks about how Burger King is attempting to offer healthier options with lower sodium to keep up with the health fad.  This is definately a good thing for kids because like it says in the article; high sodium diets in kids can cause heart problems and obesity in adulthood.

This video clip is about head phones and pace makers may cause a negative reaction.  they can also interfere with an AED.  The study also found that the head phones can mess with a pace maker even when the ipod is off.

girls lives without a heart

This video shares a special story of a 14 year-old girl who lived without a heart for over 100 days.  She was hooked up with an artificial heart, aka, a machine that allowed her to live.  she says in the video that it was like she was not really here.

US Smoking Rate has dropped!!

The Smoking rate has dropped below 20 percent.  Cigarettes still kill half a million people each year.  Hopefully the smoking cessation programs will continue to allow a drop in the smoking rate.

Against the law for spreading HIV

Apparently countries are making it against the law to spread HIV.  A mother was convicted for not telling her doctors that she was HIV positive and passed it on to her baby.  I think it is a good idea to a point; like the article said…we are donating money to Africa, but not setting an example.

HPV Vaccine cures Genital Warts in Men

This article is from the CDC and shows results from a study that proves the HPV vaccine, Guardasil, is now proven to prevent genital warts in men. The vaccine is very expensive, about 375 dollars for 3 shots. A request has been made to advertise it.

Malaria Vaccine

This article talks about a new Malaria vaccine that is going to be tested in Africa.  It should start in January and will covere 6-7 countries.  Preventive measures will also be taken (mosquito nets and pesticides)
